and I at Geek-Kon 2007! This was taken right before the Masquerade by someone passing by. (If it's your photo, let me know, I'd love to give you credit!)
Also, I reverted back to my original Make-up with a new mixture of products though. I started with anti-antiperspirant barrier seal since the old make-up is water based, then I applied the Mehron's Liquid Color make-up and used a light misting of fixer spray on top. The result was incredibly resilient, very dark makeup, but it locked up my face! lol. The three layers were so thick and rigid that I couldn't move my face very much or it would start cracking. I would much rather have an expressionless face than runny makeup though so I am VERY happy! ^_^
EDIT: Let me just say that for the record, Geek-Kon in Madison, Wisconsin is RETARDED. They don't let you have ANY weapons at all, until you're about to go on stage for the masquerade (since it's on a College campus they're totally more strict than REAL cops) Not to mention the fact that there are like 7 people that go to it, it's in a horrible location- Ugh, it just looks like you're wandering the halls of some really geeky afterschool program. The game room had like 3 games in it, and there was just nothing at all to do. I WILL NOT return to Geek-Kon ever. I suggest that if you are thinking of coming from out of town to it for any reason, DON'T. If you want to come to Madison and hang out with InkyLink and Forcebewitya, lol we would love that, but you will be EXTREMELY disappointed if you go to that con. BOYCOTT GEEK-KON! XD
If you want a small Con in Madison, Wisconsin go to Film-Con. It's more for Panels and things but they are ALWAYS sweet. They have the most amazing guests too because the guy we know who runs it is awesome and knows everyone. There's always an auction with super l337 items for pretty cheap and the proceeds go to a Breast Cancer relief organization. AND... Forcebewitya and I might be on a poster there next time XD Come to Film-Con! XD
Geek.kon is probably just covering their behinds with that policy. At NoBrand once, the cops were alerted because people were running around with realistic AirSoft guns. Are the swords made of metal? They're usually not allowed at conventions.
No, I'm a veteran con goer, my weapons are fiberglass. Geek.kon was on the UW Madison campus which is why they didn't allow any weapons, but I still hated it XD
I hear it was better in recent years because of the new location, but not by much.
It's going to be amazing this year, the hotel is huge with areas for photoshoots and it's in a great area. If you're up for it, you should give it another chance.
LOL! that's my photo! I was wondering why it looked VERY FAMILIAR. and that's my camera taking the picture. heh. Great cosplays! I loved them oh so very much. (btw, Geek Kon is now being held at the Sheraton hotel..which may or may not allow weapons) It's too bad you guys aren't going to be here this year
best link cosplays i've seen, but i think your analysis of geek-kon is a little dated. i attended last year and was quite impressed with the amount of people and the video game selection was huge. this year i hear they have even moved off campus to a hotel so there won't be as strict rules, although it won't be free. i do hope to get the chance to cosplay at acen as well but their dates suck.
I went to the very first GeekKon. I didn't go this year, because of the horrible experience I had with '07. I do hope they improved it, that would be wonderful, but after going to several major cons and tons of other smaller cons, and having them be infinitely more fun, GeekKon was seriously a joke. They couldn't get me to return to a free con in my own city this year. That's how bad it was. I kid you not...
I kinda wish I had gone this year now though, I vowed to boycott it lol! I'm glad to hear they kinda got their act together though. We'll see about next year. :3

I'm sure they'll allow weapons now, hotels and police alike don't ever really care about prop weapons lol.
